Moving Van?
Today I saw a moving van next door. Finally! Could it be a girl my age?! The moving men say the family is moving in tomorrow and they can not provide family information like their ages, gender, etc. I told mom and she says that she will bake some brownies for them. She always makes brownies for new neighbors. I'm going on a search for a best friend. Everyone is occupied already. I belong to a group of friends, and I really want to be best friends with Anastasia, but Melanie and Anastasia have been BFFs since the 1st grade. You get the idea."I hope there's a girl my age next door, and that she's nice." I whispered to my lucky charm before kissing it and going to sleep.
A Girl?!
This afternoon me and mom went next door to give the new neighbors some brownies. My mom and a woman chatted for awhile before a girl- about my age, walked over and smiled at me. I just stared at her, and I felt my mouth open in shock. Oh-no! She'll never want to be friends with me now! She had brown, welcoming eyes underneath her glasses, dark brown hair, and a very welcoming smile. She looked at my mother and said politely, "Hi! You must be the next door neighbors. Thanks for the brownies! I love them!" Yep. If she goes to my school, I would definitely want to be her best friend. I started to walk away, and she did too. As I was walking, I overheard mom say " Yes, we would love for her to come over for lunch tomorrow!" In other words, she was saying, oh I would love to trade your delightful daughter for my daughter who is horrible at math, sleeps during Spanish class, and gets two detentions a week of being tardy because Kathy always pushes her off the bus! Not that she knew this, of course. I would do anything to get Anastasia's perfect life. The latest fashions, cool earrings, a best friend, lots of money, is popular, you get the idea. Can't wait 'till tomorrow. Yawn...
